Marking of examinations all across Canada is conducted by well trained examiners in accordance with national Standards established by the Association of Chief Boiler Inspectors of Canada (ACI Canada) and their sub-committee on the Standardization of Power Engineers Examination Committee (SOPEEC).
The SOPEEC Rules outline the following information that must be used as a rule for marking subjective examination questions for all levels above 4th Class.
The terms of marking are as follows:
- CORRECT EQUATION 20%
- CORRECT UNITS STATED FOR ALL VARIABLES 20%
- CORRECT CALCULATIONS THROUGHOUT THE EXAMINATION QUESTION 40%
- CORRECT RESULT STATED WITH CORRECT UNITS STATED AT THE END OF THE QUESTION 20%
- TOTAL IS 100%
Any student who fails an examination and feels that has not been properly evaluated as per the above stated rules of marking is advised to appeal to the Examiners Board in his/her jurisdiction as soon results are provided. Failure to file an appeal request within 30 days of receiving results will eliminate the possibility of an appeal hearing.
