Understanding Natural Refrigerants and Refrigeration Safety
At TFMCI, we offer a Refrigeration Plant Operator Program that will provide you with the technical knowledge and skills needed for those who want to begin a career as a Power Engineer. Throughout this program, you will be learning about:
– Natural Refrigerants
– How to reduce the ammonia charge in a refrigeration plant
– Refrigeration safety
…among other important areas of refrigeration plant operations in order for you to write the Technical Safety BC examination for your interprovincial Refrigeration Plant Operator Certificate.
Understanding Natural Refrigerants
Those who are not in the Refrigeration Plant Operator field don’t often know that ammonia is a natural refrigerant. It is an efficient way to run a refrigeration system, and it is actually one of the most environmentally friendly refrigerants on the market.
Understanding Ammonia Refrigeration Safety
As mentioned, ammonia is a natural refrigerant often used in large, industrial plants where its advantages can be fully utilized without compromising safety.
Thanks to ammonias thermodynamic properties it outperforms synthetic refrigerants, but it also runs the risk of toxicity and flammability, making the need for an on-site Refrigeration Plant Operator who has the appropriate training to handle ammonia in order to ensure safe operation of the system.
